Plan on a budget itinerary

Day 1

Day 2

MORNING

Coffee

Coffee is non-negotiable for many. To save some change, try the free coffee at your hotel. Need something more? Twenty Below Coffee offers pay-what-you-can at the Fargo location.

14 Roberts St N, Fargo | (701) 566-0977

AFTERNOON

Stop by the Visitor Center

Stop by Fargo’s Visitors Center to take a photo with the original woodchipper prop from the movie Fargo. Make sure to tag #FargoWoodchipper when you post it! While you’re there, find anything else that might interest you and grab a map or two.

2001 44th St S, Fargo | (701) 282-3653

Nichole’s Fine Pastry

Get oriented with a stop at Nichole’s Fine Pastry, a European-inspired bakery. Overflowing shelves of small-batch, delicate pastries, cookies, truffles, and decadent cakes fill this cozy shop. Plus, they have a coupon at the bottom of this blog!

13 8th St S, Fargo | (701) 232-6430

Murals

Downtown Fargo has a ton of fun and interactive murals that can be enjoyed at any age (and for free!). Hunt them all down using this map and take some photos as your souvenir from Fargo.

EVENING

Rustica

Dine in style while still on a budget. Rustica offers one of the best happy hours in town with $5 off starters and 1/2 off pizzas from 5-6 p.m. & 9-10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

Live music

There’s a good chance whatever brewery you’re at has some live music happening. If it doesn’t, and you really want to squeeze one last thing into your evening, you can always find some live music in Fargo. Check out this guide to live music venues in the city to cap your night with local sounds.

Day 3

MORNING

The Shack on Broadway

This cozy diner easily sells one of the best breakfast smorgasbords in Fargo. It’s well worth the drive to the northern edge of Fargo for their massive omelets (we recommend the Meat Lover’s), extra large caramel rolls (made fresh every day and only available until they run out), and fluffy pancakes (seriously, they’re so fluffy). Plus, there’s a coupon!

3215 Broadway N, Fargo | (701) 356-2211

Plains Art Museum

Following your morning pick-me-up, head to Plains Art Museum in Downtown Fargo to check out nationally recognized art pieces with Native American works sprinkled in.

Plains Art has free admission, but you can opt for a guided tour for $4 per person if you’d like a more curated experience.

704 1st Ave N, Fargo | (701) 551-6100

Ice Cream

Ice cream is everywhere you look in Fargo-Moorhead. Try Tea and Crepe for their Thai Rolled ice cream experience, or opt for a Dilly Bar at the Moorhead Dairy Queen where they were invented. All of these options have cost-conscious treats.

See a Norwegian Stave Church

An exact replica of the Stave church outside of Vik, Norway, you can find a piece of Scandinavia in Moorhead outside the Hjemkomst Center. Walking around the park and church is free, but entry to the church and Hjemkomst Center is $8-10.
