Busy construction season for Fargo Moorhead |
|||
By: Stephanie Goetz, WDAY This year's summer construction season is kicking off with one of the biggest projects in the area: a nearly eight million dollar project here at the 45th street and I-94 interchange. And for about the next seven months, traffic will be reduced from four down to about two lanes. That's because they're making this four-lane bridge into a six lane. Just about a mile south on 45th, right in front of the Urban Plains Center here, 32nd Avenue all the way down to 52nd avenue in Osgood will be closed to expand to six lanes. That will be for the entire summer. Meaning people getting in and out of Osgood will need to find a different route." On I-29 just north of Fargo at County Road 20, nine miles of road up until about Argusville will be reduced down to one lane in each direction. That's so they can reconstruct the southbound lane and that'll last until about October." A smaller project, but one that will cause similar traffic congestion, is the 10th avenue and Main underpass reconstruction. Starting in May, two blocks of 10th street will be closed, meaning traffic will have to be re-routed to University where it will be head-to-head traffic until September. So that means yet another summer of busy construction. 12th Avenue, on NDSU's campus, will also be worked on this summer but crews are expecting to keep traffic lanes open throughout.
